A Community of Mutual Respect

Great Schools, Great Minds web site and Facebook community page are safe and respectful places in which to share different views related to public education.  As Mr. Terry said in a Collier County School Board meeting, “…we all want to do what’s best for children…” No comment will ever be deleted for expressing a dissenting view.

To ensure this community remains welcoming, and its members feel safe presenting different views, we will delete any comment with personal attacks, bullying, or rudeness (including sarcastic, and argumentative tones).

The Facebook community page has the profanity filter set to maximum.  If your post doesn’t appear, and you believe the filter might have removed it incorrectly, email us through the web site.

If we’re offended by or receive several comments from the same person that violate the policy of this site, we will block that person from posting in the future.  The same is true for commenters using aliases, stolen identities, and individuals using multiple email addresses to appear to be more than one reader.  We will use our best judgment to determine if a person is adhering to these policies.

We reserve the right to manage the content of this web site and Facebook community page. We want to be good role models by using critical thinking, problem solving, and civil dialogue to improve public education.  The public schools are teaching our children these skills.

Critical thinking means objective thinking. It means looking at information from many sources, then using evidence to back up a statement.  Problem solving means identifying great ideas and ways to make them a reality.  Civil dialogue is the ability to communicate your informed opinions with humility and respect for those whose opinions differ from yours.

We believe that an individual's right to free expression is earned by accepting the responsibility to communicate respectfully and constructively.

                                                Free speech = a right + a responsibility
